Week 5-ish

Wow! Where has the time gone?He is 5 weeks old already and I can't believe it. He is getting super big so fast. We love the time we have with him. This last week and a half has been fun-sort of. He's been super fussy lately and on Saturday he cried a lot of the day. He was so cute on Sunday for all the family and we even managed to get some super cute family pictures. When my dad is home, we are going to do some with my family as well. We had family over for the World Cup USA game, which was a lot of fun. Too bad I didn't get any pictures. On Friday, Jacob's work had a family picnic which we went to and enjoyed. I got to go to the doctor and everything is back to normal and healthy. I'm back to my pre-pregnancy weight plus some more so that is exciting!
As far as I go, I'm getting pretty bored with myself and him at home all day every day. I had some projects I was working on, but I finished them and now don't know what to do with myself. I feel like I have to accomplish something everyday, and if I don't, then I feel like crap. Jacob says taking care of Spencer is an accomplishment, which it is, but I guess I just get bored with it. The one thing that makes it worth it is seeing him be so happy and responsive. This last week he smiled at Jacob for real for the first time. It was so cute. He can laugh in his sleep but doesn't do it on his own yet. Does anyone have any suggestions for things I can do to keep myself occupied? Keep in mind I already clean my house and do laundry and dishes, so those things don't count.

This is my attempt at taking pictures of Spencer. Not the greatest but oh well. On Sunday he turned one month old. It was so crazy! I can't believe it's been a month. He's been so cute lately and discovering he can smile and laugh and make cute noises. We went to a family reunion lunch on Saturday where I didn't know anyone but immediate family. We did, however, manage to get a 5 generation picture! Spencer's room is pretty much done. There is one more thing to hang on the wall and then the closet doors will be put up. It looks so fantastic!

This is a cute blanket Jacob's work got for us. It matches really well because it has lots of animals.
I made this cute jungle growth chart for his room so we can keep track of how big he gets.
Saturday was the world cup USA vs England game, so of course we had to watch it. We even dressed Spencer in his soccer outfit.

This is a cute outfit I put him in. The shoes make his feet look huge!

Week 3

Spencer is now 3 weeks old. It seems like this month is already flying by. Well, in the last week, we have been very busy. You already heard about our fun trip to Primary's on Friday. Also on Friday, we got a visit from the great-greats. Grandma Mac and Grandpa Keith stopped on their way home from Lava Hot Springs to see him. Nathan also tagged along- he was in charge of the camera. Grandma kept getting mad at him for not getting good pictures. It wasn't really his fault- Spencer was hungry and tired from being toted around to various hospitals all day, so he wasn't very happy. We also got a visit from our friends Chace and Julie. They are going to be having a baby in September. Along with their baby and Marc and Miriam's baby, it will be the "3 amigos- 2nd Generation". Saturday we just did stuff around the house like taking the carpet out and putting blinds up. I also did some cleaning. Sunday was a lazy day for Spencer and I, and Jacob went to meetings. We watched Free Willy, which I haven't seen in years. We had dinner at Jacob's parent's house and then came home because my family was coming to see Spencer. My dad and brothers hadn't seen him for 2 weeks so they wanted to come see him. It was a lot of fun, although Tye decided to go to Lagoon instead. Monday was just a Monday. Tuesday though we got new carpet! It is so super soft and I love to walk on it in bare feet. Thanks to the parents for helping us out there! Tuesday night we started putting stuff in the room. We set up the crib, which is huge! We also started to put the closet shelves together. Wednesday we did more nursery work, putting the closet shelves together. Today, I called the doctor because he told me to call if Spencer seemed any more yellow. Well, he did so we went and got his bili drawn...again. It was so sad, he screamed the whole time, which he hasn't done before. He has also been super spitty this morning and during the night. But since this morning, he hasn't been. I have also not had any dairy for 2 days now but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. Maybe he just has morning sickness:)
Well, that is week 3 for us!

This is the first picture of the completed nursery. This crib is huge and tall! We didn't realize it was so big, but it will double as a toddler bed. I put the mattress and the sheets on today and it is so cute! I just hope I put the bumper pad on right! We will post more pictures as more things get completed. We are in the middle of putting in the closet shelves and then will be able to put everything in there!

Spitty!

Spencer has been so spitty lately! I was hoping the Zantac would help more, but I guess at least it is doing something. I am now on a quest to see if my diet is doing it. First up, I am going to get rid of dairy. I already sorta tried that before, but I'm going to do it again. That means no dairy for a while. This is very sad because I love to drink milk, and also what do I eat for breakfast without cereal?! It also means I can't snack on string cheese or cottage cheese either, which have been my healthy snacks. This is very sad but if it works then I guess I will have to go to soy milk. Blech.

2 Week Appointment

Here are Spencer's 2 week stats:
Height: 20.5 inches (45%)
Weight: 7 lbs 3 oz (20%)
Head circumference: 34.5 cm (10%)

His 2 week appointment was quite eventful. He got circumcised and got his 2nd PKU drawn. The doctor also thought he looked yellow so he got his bili level redrawn and it was 10.1. He has a nice little umbilical hernia as well, but the dr said it will resolve on its own. We also got to make a surprise visit to Primary Children's. What happened is this: the doctor asked if I had any questions and I just mentioned the fact that he had been throwing up everything since last night. I was just mentioning it, but I was more worried about him getting dehydrated so I also said he was still peeing and pooping normally. He had been not so pukey during the night, but he had only been eating for 5 minutes at a time. Dr Rose asked if it was normal for him to throw up that much and I said no. So Dr Rose said he wanted us to go down to Primary's to get an ultrasound of his pylorus (the end part of his stomach). He said he would leave him over the weekend, but he didn't dare. I personally didn't think he had pyloric stenosis (a condition where the opening at the end of the stomach is too narrow or gets too muscular to let much food through, if any) because he wasn't projectile vomiting (a pretty big indicator). But who am I to question the doctor? So off we went to get him checked. I didn't really want to go alone so I called to see if Jacob would go with me. We picked him up on our way down there. We had quite the time navigating through downtown Salt Lake because of all the construction, and the fact that you can't turn left on half the streets. We got there and they ultrasounded his tummy and found that everything was normal. He quite enjoyed the sugar water though. Dr Rose then called me and told me that he was going to put him on some Zantac (a heartburn/acid reflux medication) to see if that helped. So now we give him liquid Zantac twice a day. He still pukes a lot but hopefully the medication is working.

Week 2

Spencer is officially 2 weeks old today. I can't believe it, only because it feels like it's been longer than that. We've had a pretty good week. We had a fun Memorial day weekend. We went down to my grandparent's on Monday for some steak (yum!) and then to Jacob's grandparent's on our way home. Needless to say, it was a long day for all. We also ordered our carpet on Saturday for the nursery. Tuesday and Wednesday were not very exciting. Mostly because our days (Spencer and I) consist of sleeping, eating, and watching tv. We got a blu-ray player from RC Willey for a cheap price because we got carpet and so Jacob signed up for a free one month trial of net flix. He downloaded a bunch of movies and tv shows. I'm so glad he downloaded the Office, because now when Spencer is being fussy in the middle of the night, I just go turn on an episode and usually can get him to sleep. Wednesday night we took Spencer on his first walk and he loved it! He made some fun noises that made us think he liked it anyway.
Anyway, that is week 2. Kinda boring, but that's what you get when you stay at home with a baby all day. On a side note, my mom is supposed to be coming up today and we're excited for that!
